Hi, I'm Kevin Zimmer! I am a college student currently attending Virginia Tech, majoring in engineering, and have been playing chess since the age of 4. Chess has played a huge role in my life through tournaments, and casual games with family and friends and it has helped me develop focus, patience, and strategic thinking. I'm excited for the opportunity to share what I have learned with the next generation of players!

Why Join Rising Pawn?
Chess has been a huge part of my life, but it all started with my dad. My dad is a Fide Master (FM) and from teaching me the rules at a young age, to playing countless games and tournaments together, he showed me how chess isn’t just about moves on a board, it’s about patience, problem-solving, and thinking ahead. Those early lessons shaped not only my skills but also my love for teaching and sharing the game. Now, with Rising Pawn, I want to pass on that same experience to the next generation, helping kids develop confidence, critical thinking, and a lifelong appreciation for chess.
